Sylvester Stallone and Jennifer Flavin have been married for 25 years – a lifetime in terms of Hollywood romance. People has documented their relationship since its beginnings in the late 1980s, and also compiled a timeline of the couple’s notable moments. Stallone and Flavin apparently had a chance encounter when the model was just 19 and Stallone was in her early 40s. They had a whirlwind romance … until Stallone unceremoniously dumped her via letter.
“You can’t just write someone off in a letter after six years,” Flavin told People at the time. “It’s not like I wanted to try and ask him to come back to me or anything. I just wanted to talk.” The breakup came amid rumors of infidelity, and Flavin admitted she slept better after the breakup when she no longer had to worry about his loyalty.
However, once Stallone got over a paternity fear with one of his mistresses, the couple was able to reconcile with a renewed commitment to one another. As reported by Hollywood Life, Stallone has been married twice before… but it was his 1997 marriage to Flavin that seemed to be holding up. However, after over two decades of marriage and three daughters, it seems their relationship is getting a little rocky.
Sylvester Stallone has covered his tattoo of Jennifer Flavin
Pete Davidson may have popularized relationship tattoos recently, but he certainly didn’t invent them. Long before Davidson branded himself with Kim Kardashian’s name, Sylvester Stallone was the original playboy. For years he sported a picture of Jennifer Flavin on his bicep and was often caught showing it off when his wardrobe didn’t allow for proper presentation.
His tattoo artist, Mario Barth, made it clear to the New York Daily News that Stallone doesn’t take his body ink lightly. “I didn’t meet tattoo historians with the knowledge he has of the industry,” Barth said. He also noted that Stallone had to wait until the “Rocky” franchise was completed before being inked. Now his latest piece pays homage to the films … but covers up his wife.
In August, the Daily Mail captured exclusive photos showing Stallone’s bicep portrait of Flavin being completely obscured by a dog. The new image appears to be Butkus, the bull mastiff who accompanied Rocky Balboa in Stallone’s films. The intense image of replacing his wife with a dog has certainly got people talking, and Flavin’s latest Instagram activity has only fueled speculation.
Jennifer Flavin appeared to leave a dodgy Instagram post
In early August, Jennifer Flavin released an Instagram post that had some wondering if the marriage was intact. In a tight embrace with their three daughters, Flavin posed, smiling for the camera and writing a heartfelt caption. “These girls are my priority,” it said. “[N]what else matters. The four of us forever.” She paired her words with the hashtags “truth,” “family,” and “forever.”
A comment left by one of her daughters also alluded to possible arguments. “The strongest woman I know,” said Sistine Stallone. Sophia Stallone also gave encouragement, writing: “You are our rock, cheerleader and most incredible mom. We are so lucky to have you.”
A sweet message between a mother and daughters doesn’t have to mean anything. However, it’s worth noting that Flavin is no longer following her husband on the social media platform. This combined with the missing tattoo seems to be a bad omen.
Sylvester Stallone has denied allegations of marital troubles
Despite the looks, Sylvester Stallone and his team have so far denied marital problems. In a statement to the Daily Mail, Stallone’s publicist explained that the actor was merely trying to “brush up” his wife’s portrait, but the artist so botched up the play that he was forced to cover it. “The results were unsatisfactory and unfortunately irreparable,” she explained.
Just a week before Stallone’s new tattoo was unveiled, he paid homage to Butkus on his Instagram account. “I REALLY sympathize with the people who have lost their beloved pets…!” he wrote. “It’s a loss that never quite fades … It’s never quite the same … Keep Punching Pet Lovers.” It’s clear he had the Great Dane in mind, so perhaps Butkus was the obvious solution when Jennifer Flavin’s picture was “botched.” .
For his part, Stallone is still following Flavin, posting a touching tribute to their marriage back in May 2022. “Happy 25th anniversary to my amazing wife,” he wrote. “There aren’t enough words to describe what this incredibly selfless, dedicated, patient woman has meant to our lives and I only wish there could be 25 more!”
