What really happened between Matt LeBlanc and Jenna Fischer?

For many, Matt LeBlanc will always remain the lovable if not goofy Joey Tribbiani from the long-running sitcom Friends. While LeBlanc’s post-Friends career has kept him busy with multiple shows like Joey, Episodes, and Man with a Plan, it’s LeBlanc’s time as Joey that both he and his fans look back on fondly. In an interview with the BBC, LeBlanc said: “I’m a bit spoiled when it comes to comedy. I was on Friends, which was one of the funniest things on TV. If I’m reading a comedy and I’m not laughing, I think it’s probably not that funny, so I’m feeling a little jaded.”

While much has been said about LeBlanc’s successful television career, there have been some bumps along the way. In fact, there were some rumors that there were some issues with LeBlanc and actress Jenna Fischer on the set of Man With A Plan. Apparently, it had nothing to do with her work on the show, but with her previous television roles.

TV executives had trouble imagining Joey with Pam

During his 10-year tenure on Friends, Matt LeBlanc’s character Joey Tribbiani dated a long list of eligible women in the Big Apple, including model Janine (Elle MacPherson), Erin (Kristin Davis), Charlie (Aisha Tyler) and, of course Rachel, played by LeBlanc’s co-star Jennifer Aniston. However, by the time LeBlanc transitioned into Man with a Plan, so many people still saw him as Joey that show executives had a hard time seeing him with Jenna Fischer, best known as her character Pam Beesly from That Office.” During the “Office Ladies” podcast, Fischer explained what happened after she showed up to film the pilot for the show. She recalled (via People), “You said — that’s a literal quote, her said, ‘I don’t think Pam would marry Joey. The chemistry between these two doesn’t work. So it didn’t work for them. We got married and started a family.”

whoops But that’s not the only problem Fischer and LeBlanc have experienced following their iconic roles.

Jenna Fischer and Matt LeBlanc’s out-of-character dilemmas

In 2012, Matt LeBlanc told The Guardian that he’s encountered many people assuming he’s just like his fun, feisty, and aloof former “Friends” character, Joey Tribbiani. But because he has nothing to do with the fictional character, many people get the wrong impression of him. He said: “People talk to me slowly sometimes. And they always ask me if I’m okay because I’m a lot more reserved and reserved than my character in ‘Friends’. They think I’m depressed or sad or upset – but I’m just not ready to go in front of an audience and do a TV show. That’s not me.”

Similarly, Jenna Fischer has admitted that a lot of people thought she and co-star John Krasinski were a real couple because her The Office character Pam Beesly had so much chemistry with screen partner Jim Halpert. During an appearance on “An Oral History of the Office,” she said (via People), “I don’t know how to explain it because it’s a little bit like telling kids there’s no such thing as Santa Claus.” During While some executives may have had a hard time imagining Pam with Joey, we feel Pam would have done a great job explaining to Joey that Santa was actually a fictional character as well.
