What really happened between Kristen Doute and Alex Menache?

In the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, Kristen Doute was able to find love with her boyfriend, Alex Menache. After dating for a few months, the former ‘Vanderpump Rules’ star decided to open up about the budding relationship that came about after she split from longtime boyfriend Brian Carter. “I tried to keep it very secret,” Doute said of Menache while appearing on the Sheananigans podcast in April 2020 (via Bravo’s The Daily Dish). The couple were originally exclusive but wanted to keep the relationship casual. “We’re having a really great time and he commutes back and forth between his house and mine,” she added.

The following month, Doute made it official with Menache on Instagram when she posted a snap of them with matching tie-dye outfits in May 2020. Originally, the bravolebrity struggled with deciding when to go public with her boyfriend. “I tagged him a few times because it felt very mysterious,” she said on the Sheananigans podcast.

Prior to their date, Doute and Menache had a long-standing friendship, and the two made plans to make time for love. “I see no need to rush anything. We’ve known each other for years,” the Vanderpump Rules alum said while appearing on the We Met at Acme podcast in May 2020 (via Life & Style). Eventually, the pair casually walked by and moved in together, but soon hit a rocky patch.

Kristen Doute is moving out of Alex Menache’s home

Just months after Kristen Doute moved in with Alex Menache, the status of their relationship was called into question. In March, the “He Drives You Crazy” writer made a vague post on her Instagram Stories, which had fans wondering if she was back on the market. “I’m ready to start a new chapter in my life,” Doute wrote. This sparked a discussion online, when a Redditor asked, “Is Kristen single?” The post caused fans to speculate, and shortly after, their questions were answered.

A few months after hinting at “a new chapter,” Doute officially announced that she and Menache were finishing it. The former “Vanderpump Rules” castmate documented her move from the home she shared with Menache on her Instagram Stories. “[M]A day is hard. Leaving memories is even harder. Sending lots of love to anyone who has a TAG like this,” she wrote (via E! News).

Although Doute gave no reason for the split, the split appeared amicable. “[W]I had so many great memories… as hard as it is, my current mood is one of gratitude,” she added. James Mae’s CEO stayed positive as a fan expressed his dismay at the couple’s split. “I love and respect them very much,” Doute replied to the fan on Instagram. The split came as a bit of a surprise as the two had hinted at a future together.

Both wanted a family

Despite Kristen Doute’s claims early in her relationship with Alex Menache that the two wanted to take things slow, there were signs the couple could be together for the long haul. When news first broke that the Vanderpump Rules grad had a new boyfriend, a source revealed that Menache wasn’t interested in an affair. “He wants to get married and have kids soon,” an insider told Us Weekly in April 2020. “He’s been looking for a wife,” they added.

About a year into their relationship, in January 2021, Doute made it clear that she wanted children in the not-too-distant future as well. “[H]I plan on getting pregnant, but not this minute,” the fashion designer shared on her Instagram Stories (via Reality Tea). Doute also detailed meeting her gynecologist and how she worried about her irregular menstrual cycle.

From the start, the reality star had hopes of including Menache in her public life. “Hopefully we’ll get a season 9 [and]you know, if he’s my boyfriend, he’s going to be a part of the show because it’s a part of my life,” Doute told Us Weekly early on in their relationship in May 2020. She’s been open with Menache from the start when they met theirs disclosed public relations and included him “in some of the chapters” of the book she was writing at the time.
