If you’re a fan of The Real Housewives franchise, you probably know one of the original stars of the original series: Vicki Gunvalson. Gunvalson was one of the first five “housewives” in the Bravo series The Real Housewives of Orange County, which first aired in 2006. However, controversy erupted back in July 2019 when it was revealed that after 13 years as Gunvalson, lead cast member of the hit series, had been demoted from an “OG of the OC” to a “friend” of housewives, essentially removing her from the Main cast relegated to supporting actress.
The following year, Gunvalson resigned from the franchise entirely, in part because of her demotion. This wasn’t a surprise, of course, as she’s already said she felt like a “was” among her fellow co-stars. However, some fans later began speculating that Gunvalson might make a comeback on the series, in large part due to her popularity and status as one of the “OGs”. However, based on some statements made at BravoCon 2022, it seems like Gunvalson’s long-awaited comeback isn’t as easy as it sounds.
Vicki Gunvalson may not be returning for the next season of RHOC after all
According to reports from The List, original “Real Housewives” star Vicki Gunvalson made some statements during the Right The Relationship panel at BravoCon 2022, which could dampen fans’ hopes that she will return in the show’s 17th season. When asked if she would be returning to the franchise “soon,” she simply said, “That’s because of Bravo.” She also reflected on how painful it was for her to leave the series, saying, “It was one difficult question. I feel like there is still so much left.”
In the end, it seems like Gunvalson (and her fans) got their answer. On October 14, HollywoodLife editor Christopher Rogers dropped a bombastic statement about her future status on the show. “Despite this photo going viral,” he tweeted, likely referring to photos of Gunvalson filming with fellow ‘Housewives’ stars Tamra Judge and Shannon Beador that went viral last month, “Vicki Gunvalson will be back for Season 17 may not return to #RHOC.” He then quoted Real Housewives executive producer Alfonso Rosales when asked if Gunvalson would be returning: “By the people I know [working on the show]The answer is no.”
