Travis Scott’s comeback has just had a big hit

In the wake of the Astroworld festival tragedy, some wondered if Travis Scott’s career could ever bounce back. In November 2021, Scott was blown up by fans and the press after the tragic death of 10 people at the Astroworld festival in Houston, Texas. In addition, 25 other concert-goers were hospitalized, with more than 300 people reporting minor injuries. The youngest fatality was a 9-year-old boy who died a week after the festival.

After the Astroworld tragedy, fingers were pointed at Live Nation, which organized the festival and had a track record of cutting costs. But some blamed Scott for having a track record of encouraging wild fan behavior at concerts. In March, Complex staff recommended some ideas for the rapper to slowly rebuild his career. The Complex team determined that Scott should wait until at least a year after Astroworld before appearing, start with small venues, and approach the “return with a big emphasis on safety.”

However, Scott disregarded this advice and his comeback met with great success.

Travis Scott’s first festival since Astroworld has been canceled

Travis Scott’s first festival appearance since the Astroworld tragedy has been cancelled. The Las Vegas festival called Day N Vegas was canceled on July 1st. Variety reported that the Day N Vegas Festival was scheduled for September 2-4 Labor Day weekend at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds. Day N Vegas announced the cancellation on Instagram: “We are sorry to report that a combination of logistics, timing and production issues have forced us to cancel Day N Vegas for 2022.” Day N Vegas stated that refunds would be processed immediately, but it could take two to four weeks for refunds to appear back in fans’ accounts.

Page Six reported that Scott has attempted a comeback with mixed results. The rapper was scheduled to perform at Coachella 2022 but was cut after the Astroworld tragedy. According to the outlet, Scott appeared at a private pre-Oscars event that welcomed guests including Venus and Serena Williams and Leonardo DiCaprio. Weeks after Astroworld, the rapper spoke to Charlamagne Tha God about the tragic festival. Scott said, “It’s going to be so hard because I always feel connected to my fans, and I’ve been through something and my fans have been through something and people’s parents have been through something and it really hurts.” Maybe he’ll get the chance to reconnect with fans.
