Hunter Schafer and Jacob Elordi’s characters in HBO’s “Euphoria” have plenty of on-screen drama. However, some fans believe the couple’s relationship is just as complex in real life. The teen drama series sees Schafer and Elordi as Jules Vaughn and Nate Jacobs, respectively. The characters, both students at the fictional East Highland High School, have complicated dynamics. In Season 1, Nate discovers a sex tape of Jules and his rather troubled father, Cal Jacobs (played by Eric Dane). Nate then joins a dating app and begins actively following Jules under the name Tyler. When they first meet, Nate reveals he was behind the profile and blackmails Jules to protect his father’s secret.
To complicate matters further, Elordi’s character appears to have developed feelings for Jules during his catfishing venture, leading to many fans longing to see their relationship continue to develop in Season 2. However, some believe that Schafer and Elordi are feuding behind the scenes. causes more turbulence on the set.
The feud between Hunter Schafer and Jacob Elordi explained
After a hugely successful first season, fans of “Euphoria” were no doubt waiting to see what drama would unfold in the second installment. However, internet sleuths claim extra precautions were taken so Hunter Schafer and Jacob Elordi didn’t have to film together. The unconfirmed theory was outlined by a Reddit user, who noted that Schafer and Elordi – who appear as Jules Vaughn and Nate Jacobs – are less close than they were before.
According to the post, Schafer and Elordi once had a strong relationship that included sharing pictures of each other online, and Elordi referred to his co-star as “his favorite person in the cast.” The Reddit user goes on to say that the pictures of Elordi and Schager were deleted after the actor became romantically involved with “Euphoria” frontwoman Zendaya. Fans later found that Schafer and Elordi had unfollowed each other on social media. And while their reported feud is largely based on speculation, some believe the drama between the two got so serious that the writers changed the script when the pair refused to film together.
The drama seems to be over
Hunter Schafer and Jacob Elordi have never publicly addressed the speculation surrounding their alleged on-set feud, but it appears the two have reconciled. Despite reports that the couple has unfollowed each other on social media, both actors now follow each other on Instagram. Schafer even shared a picture of himself and Elordi — along with the rest of the “Euphoria” cast — from the season 2 premiere in January.
And while Schafer and Elordi have even explicitly confirmed or denied their alleged feud, Elordi has previously explained the importance of Schafer’s role on the popular show. “If you want honesty and truth and you want to portray people properly,” Elordi told GQ of casting a trans actor for the role — since Schafer is trans herself. Elordi added, “You have incredible actors out there – it’s always how it should be done.”
It’s not yet known if fans will see a more detailed continuation of Jules and Nate’s story, but for now things seem to be at least amicable.
