The realization Gwyneth Paltrow had when she turned 50

Old age brought with it more beauty and wisdom for Gwyneth Paltrow. In a September 2022 interview with Vogue, the “Glee” alum discusses his 50th anniversary. “I feel great,” she revealed. “I feel very happy and fulfilled and I’m not scared and weirdly I haven’t freaked out about it.” She mentioned trying to figure things out in her 20s, and by her 30s she had a good understanding of how life worked. She experienced a midlife crisis in her 40s, wondering what aging meant and how she wanted to redefine herself.

The actress and fashion designer has also seen her daughter Apple hit some milestones lately. Apple turned 18 in May, graduated from high school and is now in college. “I know it sounds crazy, but it feels almost as profound as giving birth,” Paltrow, who shares Apple with her ex-husband Chris Martin, told CBS News.

Though Paltrow doesn’t seem to have any regrets about her earlier years, she’s excited to tackle this next chapter in her life. “I would never want to go back to my 20s or even my 30s,” she told People in October 2021, shortly after her 49th birthday. “I know myself, I like myself and I’m so grateful for the wisdom that comes with age.” And now, as she turns 50, the actress is taking that newfound acceptance to heart.

Gwyneth Paltrow is open about self-acceptance

On October 16th, Gwyneth Paltrow hosted a Goop event, and she had an extensive Q&A panel for attendees. The fashion designer opened up about her recent 50th birthday. “I felt this amazing release begin,” she said, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. “I really know myself. I’ve made so many mistakes and achieved so many things in my life.” She mentioned that she’s started to “not care” about what people think of her.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe alum opened up a little more about what she hopes to take away from this new chapter in her life. “I’d like to slow down,” she said in a statement posted to the Goop website. “I’d like to retire a bit.” Then she listed the things she would like to do. Activities range from things as simple as cooking and singing to things as profound as opening up to her husband Brad Falchuk and working towards acceptance.

And it seems that Paltrow is starting to shine a light on her self-acceptance as she did a nude photoshoot to celebrate the big milestone of her 50th year. On September 27, her 50th birthday, the actress shared a photo from filming on Instagram and captioned it “50” with gold star emojis accompanying the text.
