R. Kelly’s girlfriend is ready to reveal everything about their relationship

In June, R&B singer R. Kelly (full name Robert Sylvester Kelly) was sentenced to 30 years in prison on multiple allegations of sexual abuse. However, not everyone agreed with the decision – namely one of his alleged victims and longtime “girlfriends”, Joycelyn Savage. In a letter to Judge Ann Donnelly ahead of Kelly’s sentencing, which I obtained from my TMZ, Savage revealed that she was Kelly’s fiancé and pleaded for a lighter sentence.

Despite Savage’s claims of an engagement and a “loving” relationship with Kelly, some — including her family — didn’t believe her. Gerald Griggs, an attorney for Savage’s parents, told TMZ that she never informed her family of such an engagement and questioned the reason Savage mentioned her in her letter, but not under oath in court. Though her family “strongly doubts” the sincerity of their engagement, Griggs admitted that they lost general contact with Savage during their time with Kelly.

With Donnelly ignoring Kelly’s marital prospects in his sentencing, Savage just announced a new effort to seemingly cast him in a positive light.

Joycelyn Savage offers an intimate look at R. Kelly’s relationship in a revealing book

Joycelyn Savage is publishing a collector’s book about R. Kelly. In an August 11 email to the New York Post, Savage announced that “Love and Joy of Robert” would be released on August 13, although her manner of doing so remains unclear. Savage gave the Post a synopsis, telling elliptically that the memoir is “about the beginning of my life in Robert’s shadow, where things started to develop, and where they are currently going.” When asked to address long-standing rumors of an engagement to the “I Believe I Can Fly” singer, Savage neither confirmed nor denied, merely replying, “It’s all answered in my book.”

It sounds like Savage’s book will expand on the messages she conveyed in her June letter to Judge Ann Donnelly. In addition to announcing their rumored engagement, Savage wrote at the time, “The Robert I know is very sweet, gentle, and kind.” Savage also completely denied in her letter that Kelly was holding her or any women “against our will.”

However, the narrative of her belief in Kelly’s innocence is shaky. In November 2019, Patreon posts allegedly written by Savage claimed that Kelly had emotionally and physically abused her, per the Daily Beast. “Why would anyone claim to love keeping me caged like a damn animal,” Savage reportedly wrote. However, Patreon shut down the account after suspecting it was a “possible impersonation” of Savage.
