Nicki Minaj had fans totally confused with her pregnancy comments

While fans desperately wait for Nicki Minaj to release new music, the rapper has been busy being a mom. In October 2020, People announced that Minaj had given birth to her first child with her husband, Kenneth Petty. Although the child’s name – affectionately dubbed “Papa Bear” – has yet to be released, fans are often treated to adorable pictures of him on the star’s Instagram. In a caption, she wrote, “Becoming a mother is by far the most fulfilling job I’ve ever taken on.”

With the “Super Bass” singer taking so much joy in being a parent, it’s no wonder some have been wondering if she’ll be having another baby anytime soon. Minaj even made a now-deleted tweet in 2019 (via BBC), announcing that she had “decided to retire and have [her] Family.” She later clarified to The Shade Room that she had already recorded music that was to come out, and her “retirement” referred to whether or not she would be working on her fifth album.

However, even Minaj’s decision to continue performing wasn’t enough to completely quash pregnancy rumors. Twitter is full of her fans analyzing videos of her recent stage performances and debating whether or not she has a baby bump. When Minaj bothered to work things out, she inadvertently made things a lot worse.

Did Nicki Minaj Accidentally Say She’s Pregnant on Instagram?

TMZ captured the fateful July 10 Instagram Live that saw Nicki Minaj have a major slip. Before taking the stage to perform at the Wireless Festival in London, she caught up with her fans. When one asked if she was pregnant, Minaj tried to turn her off and failed in the worst possible way.

“I’m not fat guys, I’m pregnant,” she said. The Barbz, tuned in to the stream, immediately raged in the comments, alerting Minaj that something had gone wrong. “Oh wait,” she said. “Did I say it wrong? I’m sorry. I think I said it wrong. I wanted to say I’m not pregnant, I’m fat.”

Despite their attempt at clarification, Twitter was still buzzing with discussion. One user summed it up, tweeting: “[M]Her whole timeline is a mess right now as we don’t know if Nicki Minaj is actually pregnant or not.” Another wrote, “Now let’s call it Nicki Minaj is pregnant again. Come back to this post when she announces it.” Still others thought that wasn’t the case at all. A fan shared a picture of Minaj at the festival, adding: “Legacy picture right here! She’s aged like fine wine – pregnant or fat.”
