It wasn’t the comeback year that Bam Margera was hoping for. Things started off on a bad note when he was left out on the latest episode of Jackass. Back in 2021, Margera was abruptly fired from the project during filming for an alleged breach of contract.
Margera reportedly failed a drug test when he tested positive for attention deficit disorder medication, which he claimed to have a prescription for. Margera fought back by suing the production company, along with some producers and Paramount Pictures, for forcing him to sign a deal he felt was unfair, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Due to his documented history of substance abuse, Margera’s contract reportedly included a “wellness clause” that allowed the studio to test him for drugs whenever they wanted and gave them the power to fire him if he tested positive for any form tested by narcotics. “I’m pissed, angry, hurt and devastated that Johnny, Jeff, Spike and the studios and producers robbed my creativity, content and stunts to make this film, fired me without justification and refuse to credit me for my work pay. ‘ Margera said in a statement by Deadline.
Margera took the loss seriously and completed a full year of rehab in May. Just when it seemed like Margera had turned things around, recent news of his post-rehab behavior began to worry his fans.
Bam Margera is trying to get better
Bam Margera left rehab in May 2022 and has spent the last few months in the news front and back because of his bad behavior. By June, Margera had checked himself into a new Florida rehab facility — by court order — and within days he had broken out, according to Page Six. According to court documents, Margera told the facility’s staff that he was not satisfied with the treatment and would check himself in at another center. He immediately left the facility and the police were called.
Margera was found and checked back in a few weeks later, departing on June 25th. According to videos obtained by TMZ, Margera walked straight from the facility to a bar in Pompano Beach, FL, where he reportedly had several alcoholic beverages. He was then hospitalized for a wrist injury. After leaving the hospital, he went to a strip club and then back to a friend’s house. Video obtained by TMZ appears to show Margera passed out on a bed with his boyfriend. Two days later, Margera was located by police at a local motel. He reportedly agreed to return to rehab at his family’s urging.
Sources told the outlet that Margera was particularly emotional about leaving rehab due to his recent split from wife Nikki Boyd. Boyd and Margera share a son, Phoenix, for whom Margera is at risk of losing custody. Boyd is reportedly seeking full custody of Phoenix with limited visitation rights for Margera.
