“Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” star Jen Shah has recently been in the midst of some serious legal drama. She was accused of running a large telemarketing scheme, according to NBC News, and eventually pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud in July. The agreement required Shah to pay $6.5 million, plus up to nearly $10 million in restitution to the victims she robbed. According to the New York Post, Shah deliberately targeted the elderly with her telemarketing program, tricking them into investing in questionable services or projects.
US Attorney for the Southern District of New York Damian Williams said (via NBC News): “These victims were sold false promises of financial security, but instead Shah and her co-conspirators cheated them of their life savings and left them with nothing to show. “
After pleading guilty, Shah revealed that if her sentence was “168 months or less,” she would not appeal the verdict, according to People. The charges they pleaded guilty to hold a maximum sentence of 30 years. Shah previously claimed she was innocent and not involved in the September 2021 plan, but ultimately admitted involvement and pleaded guilty. She is now due to be sentenced on November 28, but people are already talking about what the future may hold for her. ‘Real Housewives of Salt Lake City’ star Meredith Marks even breaks her silence on Shah’s guilty plea.
Meredith Marks was surprised by Jen Shah’s guilty plea
‘Real Housewives of Salt Lake City’ star Meredith Marks is finally opening up about what she thinks about Jen Shah’s recent plea to cheating. During an appearance on the #NoFilter podcast, Marks revealed she was surprised by both Shah’s cheating case and her guilty plea. She explained, “I don’t think anyone expected it.” Marks, who has a legal background, even revealed that it was “risky” for Shah to continue filming RHOSLC amid her legal drama because “it’s like that it’s easy to say something that might upset you.”
She shared that she isn’t as close to Shah as she used to be while pursuing her legal troubles. Marks explained: “We wrote a little bit but I didn’t have any conversations with her. I was out of the country and she’s taking her eldest son to medical school now, so I haven’t really spoken to her.”
at one point, Marks was charged Reporting Shah to the FBI for cheating on elderly people in “Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” by the other housewives, which caused Shah to become verbally aggressive towards her. Marks eventually denied the allegation, even telling Page Six that she was offended by the allegation. Well, this drama all seems petty as Shah is most likely focused on her sentencing. And while there doesn’t seem to be any bad blood between Marks and Shah now, they’re definitely not close either.
