Meghan Markle is crystal clear about her feelings about her deal-or-no-deal gig

Meghan Markle, the former working royal turned working Montecito mother of two, raised many eyebrows when she compared herself to Ariel in The Little Mermaid during her bombshell 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey. “I said, ‘Oh my god, she’s falling in love with a prince and she’s going to lose her voice because of it,'” she recalled to Winfrey of the sudden realization, per The US Sun. “But in the end she gets her voice back,” she proudly explained.

And while some saw the metaphor as a cute nod to the Disney classic, others weren’t so sure. “Did Meghan Markle even try to sing ‘Part of Your World’ from ‘The Little Mermaid’ to ‘The Queen,'” one social media user tweeted. Meanwhile, another asked: “Has Meghan just called Queen Ursula since she took her voice?” Yikes.

Since then, however, Markle has continued to use her voice to talk about topics that are important to her — including her feelings about her old appearance on the game show Deal or No Deal.

Deal or No Deal made Meghan Markle feel ‘not smart’

Meghan Markle mentions everything à la ex-“Real Housewives of New York City” star Bethenny Frankel.

During the Oct. 18 episode of her Archetypes podcast, aptly titled “Breaking down ‘The Bimbo’ with Paris Hilton,” Markle told her famous guest about her old job as a briefcase for the “Deal or No Deal” girl. “I ended up leaving the show. I was so much more than what was objectified on stage,” she recalled to Hilton of her less-than-stellar experience. “I didn’t like feeling forced to just have looks and little substance, and that’s how it felt for me back then when I was reduced to this particular archetype: the word ‘Bimbo,'” she explained.

Still, Markle carefully admitted the gig had some perks, including a steady income and health insurance. “I was grateful for the job but not for how it made me feel, which wasn’t wise,” she admitted. “By the way, I was surrounded by smart women … but that wasn’t the focus.” In the end, Markle said it all boiled down to wanting more for her own daughter, Lilibet. “I want our daughter to strive to be a little taller,” Markle admitted. “Yes, I want my Lili to want to be educated and smart and be proud of those things,” she explained.
