Kourtney Kardashian appears to be focused on a new business venture, and it seems not everyone is too happy about it. Fast fashion brand Boohoo recently announced a partnership with the reality star, but there’s a catch. According to a Page Six press release, Kardashian is collaborating with the brand to deliver a “sustainable” clothing line. The news comes just weeks after she and sister Kim Kardashian were exposed for exceeding their monthly water budget in violation of California’s drought restrictions, per Us Weekly.
The Kardashians are no stranger to receiving backlash for actions that negatively impact the environment. Recently, the family faced heat due to overuse of their private jets. Kim K recently told Interview magazine that she believes in climate change and loves to learn about it. However, she also seemed to recognize her flaws: “I do what I can, but you have to choose what really works for you in your life. No one will be 100 percent perfect.”
Despite the ruling, Kourtney remains adamant that she focuses on sustainability in her collaboration with Boohoo. Unfortunately, not everyone is convinced and on board.
Kourtney Kardashian Is Being Judged Online For Her Boohoo Dating
Kourtney Kardashian’s new collaboration with Boohoo has sent the internet into a rage. Although Boohoo claims that the partnership with Kourtney was built with sustainability in mind, social media users don’t believe her. One tweeted, “Think Kourtney Kardashian flew her private jet to her sustainable clothing line Boohoo meetings?” Another wrote, “Kourtney Kardashian working with boohoo as a ‘sustainability ambassador’ is the most embarrassing thing I’ve ever seen.”
Many also accuse Kourtney and Boohoo of “greenwashing,” a term used when a company or its ambassadors falsely claim their products are environmentally friendly, according to Business News Daily. One user tweeted, “Personally I’d like to know exactly how much Kourtney Kardashian is being paid for greenwash boohoo.”
It seems that Kourtney is aware of Boohoo’s reputation as a fast fashion company and that’s why he was initially hesitant to team up with them. In a statement to Page Six, she revealed, “When Boohoo first approached me with this idea that was about sustainability and style, I was concerned about the impact the fast fashion industry was having on our planet.” led to the brand shifting its focus to sustainability for this collaboration. In her statement, Kourtney also acknowledged that there is still work to be done, but any progress is a step in the right direction. Only time will tell if the Kardashians go green.
