Kelli Giddish said this was the funniest star on the Law & Order: SVU set

Kelli Giddish gives fans a glimpse into life on the set of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and reveals who she thinks is the funniest cast member on the popular series. The NBC spin-off — which was named the longest-running live-action television series in history in 2019 — stars Giddish alongside Mariska Hargitay, Ice-T, Peter Scanavino and Demore Barnes. Giddish joined the fictional crime-fighting team in 2011, but that wasn’t her first introduction to the series. According to insiders, Giddish made a guest appearance as a sexual assault victim in 2007.

The actor seemed to fit well into the already established cast, as Giddish has retained her role as Detective Amanda Rollins since Season 13. She also appears to have a close behind-the-scenes relationship with her Law & Order: SVU co-stars. In a slideshow posted to Instagram, Giddish can be seen enjoying a ridiculous moment with Hargitay and Scanavino on the show’s set. While there’s no doubt Giddish is enjoying her time on the show, she just revealed which of her co-stars is the funniest of them all.

Mariska Hargitay is a bundle of energy

Despite playing the no-nonsense police captain in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Mariska Hargitay is the funniest cast on set, according to her co-star Kelli Giddish. When Smashing Interviews Magazine asked who her funniest co-star was, Giddish revealed that Hargitay was a lot less serious than she appears on screen.

“She’s a bundle of energy,” Giddish said in October 2021. “No one could understand how funny this lady is with what is actually being portrayed on her television because Benson is a sensitive, deeply concerned character. She is in real life, but the other facet of her personality is that she laughs all day, every day.”

Giddish’s claims about Hargitay make sense given that the actor has also garnered praise from fellow Law & Order: SVU castmates. Rapper Ice-T previously told Page Six that Hargitay’s attitude makes it easier to get to work. “One of the best things about working on this show is that Mariska isn’t a slut,” Ice-T said in 2017. “She doesn’t come to the set with a bad attitude and she’s always on point.”

Kelli Giddish and Mariska Hargitay are friends in real life

In addition to their long-standing relationship as stars on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Kelli Giddish and Mariska Hargitay have also formed an off-set friendship. Giddish has shared several photos of herself and Hargitay enjoying off-screen adventures and even gushed about her friend on Instagram. “Love playing with this cop,” Giddish wrote alongside a selfie of the two (pictured above).

Hargitay also shared several posts involving her pal Giddish. In honor of the show’s 23rd anniversary in 2021, Hargitay released a video of the couple and sent a special shout-out to Giddish, Ice-T, Peter Scanavino and Jamie Hoskins. Hargitay publicly admired her friend at the Tribeca TV Festival a few years earlier when she revealed that Giddish is an inspiration for her role as Olivia Benson. “Kelli is one of the strongest people, I’d say, way cooler than me in a lot of ways,” Hargitay said in 2018, per Page Six. “So there are so many women that I admire and look up to, and I’m trying to grab pieces of that.” Returning the praise, Giddish said, “I’ve had so many great moments with Mariska this year.” Oh!
