Kathy Hilton became the focus of a messy feud on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills when she took offense at how castmates treated her during a trip to Aspen. “We were at the club and Kathy had an absolute meltdown,” Lisa Rinna said during an episode of “RHOBH” that aired in September (via People). Further controversy mounted when Hilton was upset that her sister, Kyle Richards, did not defend her. “Kathy said she was mad and I have to leave the club now,” Richards recalled on the show.
After calling Rinna a “bully” on the reunion show, Hilton doubled down on her dislike for the Melrose Place graduate. “She’s a bully. She bullied everyone, and I think that’s the worst part,” Hilton told Extra on Oct. 14, noting that she was not interested in returning to the show with the same co-stars. “I never like to say what other people should be. I just think you have to mix things up a bit,” Hilton told Us Weekly on Oct. 14.
The on-screen drama is said to have spilled over into real life for Hilton and Richards as the two sisters continued to feud off-camera. This prompted Kathy’s daughters, Nicky and Paris Hilton, to step in to make things right, according to People. Not long after, Nicky weighed all the “RHOBH” feuds.
Why Nicky Hilton doesn’t like watching her mom on reality TV
Nicky Hilton didn’t like seeing her mother, Kathy Hilton, involved in heated fights on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. In fact, Nicky thinks the hit reality series has taken a turn for the worse. “I used to love the lightheartedness and escapism of the program. But I feel like it’s gotten a little mean and negative lately,” she told E! News of Oct. 16, though Nicky didn’t specifically mention her mother’s highly publicized feud with Lisa Rinna or Kyle Richards. “When I watch one of these shows, I want to laugh… So hopefully they could be a bit kinder,” added the French Sole designer.
Weeks earlier, Nicky defended her mother’s decision to use her Casa Del Sol tequila on an episode of “RHOBH” — which was a point of contention between Rinna and Kathy. “I think all women go ahead and promote their products,” Nicky told Page Six in September. “I don’t see why she should be an exception.” At the time, the fashion designer added that she wasn’t sure Kathy would return to the hit Bravo show.
Seeing her mother embroiled in bitter feuds is exactly what Nicky feared when it was hinted that Kathy might join the cast of “RHOBH.” “I’ve seen the show and I know these types of shows thrive on drama and I just didn’t want my mom to be a part of it and she didn’t,” Nicky said on the Getting Real with Housewives podcast on im December 2021 .
