Kate Hudson revealed that this actor was her best on-screen kiss

Kate Hudson has played romantic leads in numerous successful Hollywood projects over the years. Rom-coms like “Fool’s Gold”, “Dr. T & The Women and How to Lose A Guy in 10 Days remain fan favorites, depicting memorable fictional love stories between Hudson and her co-stars. Those roles sometimes required Hudson and her castmates to kiss on screen, which Hudson discussed in a 2020 interview on the Goop Podcast with Gwyneth Paltrow. When Paltrow asked Hudson who she shared her best on-screen kiss with, Hudson said certain circumstances led to some awkward kissing experiences on set.

“The thing is, every time I kiss McConaughey … something just happens and there’s snot or wind,” Hudson said, laughing. “Like when we kissed at the end of ‘Fool’s Gold,’ we were like in the ocean, we had the plane crash. He just had snot all over his face.” The actress then went on to say that a scripted kiss with an Almost Famous co-star who didn’t make it into the final cut of the film was one of the best she can remember . “You know who a good kisser was but you didn’t see it because they cut him out? Was Billy [Crudup]said Hudson. ‘Billy was good. That was good.”

Hudson has also revealed another co-star offering another of her favorite performance smooches of all time.

Kate Hudson named Heath Ledger her best scripted hickey

In 2002, Kate Hudson took on the role of Ethne Eustace in the drama The Four Feathers. A co-star of hers in the film was the late Heath Ledger, who sadly passed away in 2008’s story. Ledger’s role, Harry Faversham, was a soldier who, according to Roger Ebert, was engaged to Hudson’s character. This romantic element to the story led to Hudson and Ledger sharing a kiss on set that she now looks back on fondly.

When Hudson was a guest on Watch What Happens Live in 2014, host Andy Cohen took questions from viewers. A caller asked Hudson which of her movie smooches was the best, and the actor cited the Ledger kiss as her favorite. “I would say my favorite was Heath … that was pretty excellent,” Hudson said, before adding, “[Ledger] was just so beautiful and sweet and gentle… He was lovely.” She went on to call the kiss an “amazing” memory. Audiences may soon get a chance to see more movies in which Hudson is involved in telling romantic stories to viewers.

Kate Hudson has plans to direct a new romance film soon

Luckily for all moviegoers who enjoy seeing love stories on screen, Kate Hudson will continue to make rom-com films for the foreseeable future. During a 2021 interview with Women’s Health, Hudson explained her desire to direct romantic films while also being the one in charge of how those stories are told. “I’ll definitely be doing rom-coms again,” Hudson said. “But I wasn’t happy with how people try to convince me that a rom-com should be.”

Hudson went on to explain that she is producing a rom-com for Netflix, which at the time was potentially set to start filming in 2022. In addition to continuing to act in the future, the Bride Wars star also has plans to direct. “I’m going to be and direct the woman with all these crazy big bracelets and jewelry and kaftans,” added Hudson.

One of the last rom-coms Hudson starred in was Mother’s Day, which was released in 2016, so she’ll be back in a movie about love soon. Time will tell if Hudson will share a kiss with a co-star again in her next romance film, but it certainly sounds like she’s making sure the love story is told right!
