Newlyweds Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck had quite possibly the fairytale wedding of the year, complete with a gorgeous venue, stunning looks and top-notch musical performances. Like most weddings, however, it wasn’t without its hiccups.
Though the two originally married in Las Vegas, they had a more lavish wedding ceremony on August 20. The grand affair took place at Affleck’s 87-acre Georgia estate, with family and friends in attendance to celebrate the happy couple. Lopez, in true diva form, even broke out three different looks for the event! Per E! News, she also serenaded Affleck with a song during the celebration. Unfortunately, the special moment was later leaked by a wedding guest. “It was done without permission. Point. And whoever did it took advantage of our private moment,” Lopez commented on Instagram (via Marie Claire). But aside from the leak, it seemed like everything had gone well for the couple’s second wedding.
However, it turned out that not only sunshine and rainbows led to the wedding. The singer recently admitted there were some major setbacks that could have ruined the couple’s big day.
Jennifer Lopez wasn’t worried about her wedding troubles
In her popular fan newsletter, On The J Lo, Jennifer Lopez kept subscribers serious about the days leading up to her wedding ceremony to Ben Affleck. According to the singer, there was a thunderstorm every night at sunset for the week leading up to the event. Apparently, that was right around the time the couple was due to get married next Saturday.
J.Lo also took care of the great heat, bugs and other small details that concerned the guests. “Oh, and we all caught a stomach upset and recovered late in the week, which along with a few other unexpected setbacks had all the makings of a wedding weekend,” the Hustlers actor explained. Per People, Affleck’s mother, Christopher Anne Boldt, also suffered a leg injury and required treatment at a local hospital the day before the ceremony.
However, Lopez remained positive and “never had a doubt” that everything would be fine. And it did! When the big day came, the sky was clear and the sun was shining bright! The bride even surprised Affleck when singer Marc Cohn performed the couple’s favorite song “True Companion” as Lopez walked to her groom. “Some old wounds were healed that day and the weight of the past was finally lifted from our shoulders. Full circle – and not at all how we had planned. Better,” the singer ended the newsletter. Cheers to love!
