Jason Momoa trades his signature hairstyle for a brand new look

Jason Momoa is known for many things in his life including his marriage to Lisa Bonet and his incredible acting career. However, when most people think of the Hollywood star, what immediately comes to mind is his signature hairstyle that sets him apart from the rest of the men in Hollywood. Momoa has always sported a long head of hair and there is no doubt that this is his most recognizable feature.

In 2018, before he and wife Lisa Bonet called it quits, the actor opened up about how much his long locks meant to Bonet. “My wife would leave me if I cut my hair, so I just don’t cut my hair,” the star told the Daily Telegraph. “I haven’t cut my hair for a while, I’ll tell you that much.” To be honest we can’t really say we blame her. Of course, that wasn’t the only time his “do” showed up. The actor also opened up about his hair while promoting Aquaman 2 in 2021. “This is the last day of brown. i’m going blonde Allegedly [they] have more fun I don’t know about that,” he told fans on Instagram, per Metaflix. “We will test it. But I’m happy to see James [Wan, the director]see my whole cast.”

While brunette to blonde turned out to be quite a big transition in his hair game, Momoa’s recent hair change has caused even more excitement.

Jason Momoa cuts off his locks for a good cause

Jason Momoa has a new hairstyle and fans are feeling all the emotions. The actor took to Instagram on September 5 and shared a video of himself buzzing his long, signature mane. The footage began with Momoa sitting in a chair shirtless, wearing only a long string of pearls. Another person’s hands could be seen running through the star’s hair before Momoa grabbed a set of his cropped braids. Wavering to his freshly buzzing head, Momoa told fans he’s “never felt the wind right there.”

But Momoa’s publicity stunt had a good reason, which he explained in the video and his caption. “Here to new beginnings, let’s spread the aloha. Be better at protecting our land and oceans,” he wrote. “We must ban single-use plastics from our lives and from our seas. Plastic bottles, plastic bags, packaging, utensils, everything.” Momoa ended the post by tagging Mananalu Water Official, a water company he founded that aims to end the use of plastic by serving water in recyclable aluminum cans. Some fans were upset with Momoa’s haircut, although most applauded the ‘Game of Thrones’ actor for raising awareness. “Yoooo, big parade for a good cause!” one person wrote.

This isn’t the first time Momoa has called attention to this very thing. In early September, he and James Corden took on the tortilla challenge when he challenged fans to make rolls for the water contest.
