Jason Aldean’s wife, Brittany Aldean, certainly got him a ton of attention, and now she may have put him in a big shake. Brittany drew shouts on social media and beyond on August 23 when she shared an Instagram video of herself applying makeup with the caption: “I really want to thank my parents for not changing my gender when I was went through my tomboy phase. I love this girl life.”
The video, which is still available on her site, drew a lot of attention, including from Jason’s country colleague Maren Morris. In response to a tweet from The Voice star Cassadee Pope condemning Brittany’s message as anti-LGBTQ+, Morris wrote: “It’s so easy not to be a bastard? Brittany then claimed her words were taken out of context as she took to Instagram promoting her line of merchandise days later, sharing that she supported Operation Light Shine by selling a sweater that read, “Don’t step on ours.” Kids.” In a second Instagram post showcasing the items, she wrote under the caption, “Go out and stand up for what you believe in…when you wear our latest Barbie-inspired collection!”
However, it sounds like some members of Team Aldean took that suggestion literally — and dropped out.
Jason Aldean lost his PR team
It looks like Jason Aldean may have to find a new PR team as The GreenRoom announced they have parted ways with the ‘If I Didn’t Love You’ hitmaker following the Brittany Aldean controversy. “Music has always been and always will be the main focus of The GreenRoom, so after 17 years we had to make the difficult decision to step away from representing Jason,” co-owner Tyne Parrish told Billboard, while her co-owner Kristie Sloan added, “We’re not more the best people to perform, but we’ll always be big fans of his music – he’s one of the greatest live entertainers in country music.”
The decision came after Brittany actually doubled down on her comments and took to Instagram Stories amid the controversy to claim (via Entertainment Tonight), “Advocating child genital mutilation under the guise of love and labeling it ‘gender-affirming care’ is one of the worst evils,” he added, “thank god my parents allowed me to go through my tom boy phase without changing my gender. Until then, leave the kids alone!”
Brittany has been pretty open about her views over the years. The former American Idol contestant is a proud Republican and notably made headlines in September 2021 when she shared Instagram photos of herself and her children wearing anti-President Joe Biden clothes. The upload included snaps of her daughters rocking black T-shirts that read “Hidin’ from Biden” while she wore a top that read “Anti Biden Social Club.”
