Inside Katie Maloney’s Weight Loss Transformation

Best known for starring on the Bravo series Vanderpump Rules, Katie Maloney has been going through a lot of changes lately. In March, she announced via Instagram that she and Tom Schwartz were getting a divorce. However, prior to their split, the two actually cooked healthy meals together during the pandemic, which ultimately led to Maloney losing over 20 pounds, per Hollywood Life. Unfortunately, the reality star’s body had previously been a topic of conversation on “Vanderpump Rules” and had caused Maloney to feel uncomfortable during filming.

During an episode of the show, Lisa Vanderpump’s designer Kevin Lee body-shamed her via Us Weekly. Of the incident, Maloney said, “I wasn’t in a good place in my life with self-love. And I’ve been struggling with it for a long time and acceptance and confidence and body positivity and I finally got to a place where I feel healthy and great.” She continued, “I’ve been dealing with a lot seeing this stuff on social media , and Kevin saying it to my face gave it all a voice and a face, which was difficult.”

Not only has she been judged by complete strangers online, but she’s also been shamed by some of her co-stars, including Lala Kent, who now cites it as her only regret while filming “VPR” (via People). Since the beginning of the Bravo series, Maloney’s weight fluctuation has been commented on. However, her newfound confidence and weight loss transformation is more than inspiring.

She is now confident and happy in her own skin

After some serious body shaming both on and off Vanderpump Rules, Katie Maloney rose above hate and prioritized self-love more than ever. She opened up to people to appreciate their body type and to appreciate her own happiness through how others, especially those who don’t know her personally, see her. During an interview with the outlet in 2018, she explained that she now accepts that our bodies grow and change as we age, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

“I exercise now because it makes me feel good, and if it makes me lose a few pounds, great, but it’s about attitude and a realistic approach.” Maloney continued, “I want to enjoy life and I love food , wine and beverages. I’m not going to look back at the age of 75 and say, ‘I wish I had dieted more.’”

In a 2019 Instagram Story (via Hollywood Life), Maloney revealed that she was a very “unlucky person” and considered herself “unlovable” for three years before changing her lifestyle. She explained that because she didn’t practice self-love, she “let her body become a topic of conversation” during those three years. Now she’s a strong and stable body positivity advocate, using positive energy to fight against hateful body shamers.

Katie Maloney lost 25 pounds during the pandemic

During the pandemic, Katie Maloney has focused on eating the right foods for her own body, according to Hollywood Life, after trying several diets over the years. She revealed that she personally believes that dieting ultimately causes people to fail and that focusing on what foods she was eating was better for her than how much she was eating. During the pandemic, Maloney and her now-ex-husband Tom Schwartz cooked meals like chicken and veggies together and focused on being as healthy as possible. She told Hollywood Life that she’s lost 25 pounds and that her clothes are fitting again.

Maloney said of her weight loss, “I’m not a big snacker, so it’s usually just about putting a few things in my mouth just to fuel my body.” She continued, “Because that was the hardest part of.” Above all, just training myself to eat more often than I normally would.”

Despite her transformation, the haters and body-shamers didn’t go away. However, Maloney’s newfound confidence allows her to close them and keep moving forward. In January, she opened up about body positivity on Instagram after co-worker Raquel Leviss posted a photo of her that fans felt was “unflattering.” She reminded her followers to be kind to themselves, even if it’s not easy sometimes.
