Inside Jennifer Aniston’s friendship with Dolly Parton

Jennifer Aniston has many friends, and not just the fictional ones. Aniston and her “Friends” co-stars Courteney Cox and Lisa Kudrow have seemingly hit it off both on and off screen over the years. She’s also someone who has forged long-lasting friendships with some of her childhood friends, including Andrea Bendewald, with whom she got matching “11 11” wrist tattoos back in 2021, per People. That, and she’s also managed to maintain friendships with her ex-husbands Brad Pitt and Justin Theroux. Speaking about her relationship with Pitt, Aniston told The Howard Stern Show (via Us Weekly) back in June 2021, “Brad and I are buddies. We are friends. We speak and there is no weirdness at all.”

However, Aniston has another famous but unlikely girlfriend who also likely has her number saved on her phone: country music star Dolly Parton. In fact, the two got to know each other both professionally and personally, so much so that the “Jolene” singer got Aniston to do something she’d rarely done before on camera.

Dolly Parton managed to make Jennifer Aniston sing

Jennifer Aniston and Dolly Parton previously collaborated on the 2018 Netflix film Dumplin’. While Aniston certainly has plenty of film credits under her belt, working with Parton has pushed her out of her comfort zone. That’s because Parton got both Aniston and fellow “Dumplin'” co-star Danielle MacDonald to do something they don’t do very often on camera, and that’s sing. In an interview with Elle, Parton explained that she had to give both Aniston and MacDonald more than a gentle nudge to get them into the recording studio. She recalled, “I told them, ‘Look, we want you to sing.’ And they said, ‘We can’t sing!’ And we said, “We don’t care, we’ll make sure you sound good. You have to be on this record.”

Parton went on to say that both Aniston and MacDonald’s vocals came out pretty well. She added: “They don’t claim to be a singer. You can always make it sound better if there’s a little note that’s not necessarily on pitch or whatever.” However, Aniston and Parton’s time in the studio wasn’t the only thing that pushed the actress out of her comfort zone might or might not have. In fact, Parton made an eyebrow-raising statement about Aniston and why her husband, Carl Thomas Dean, was so excited about their collaboration.

Dolly Parton’s husband wanted to get to know Jennifer Aniston a little more personally

Dolly Parton revealed on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” in December 2018 that her husband Carl Thomas Dean was most excited about her collaboration with Jennifer Aniston because he apparently wanted a “threesome.” She told the Late Night host: “I love her to death. My husband is crazy about her and he was more excited that I would do a film with her than that I would get the chance to write all this music. I think he’s fantasizing about a threesome.”

Of course, it didn’t take long for Aniston to respond to Parton’s comments. When Aniston heard her husband wanted to have a threesome with her, Aniston told USA Today, “My mouth just dropped. And then I laughed at myself. This is Dolly. Nobody in the world gets away with saying something like that about their partners on live television, except for Dolly. I mean that’s a quote. Luckily, Parton added that the threesome is highly unlikely because her husband “can’t make it pee, let alone for three!” Maybe the two can write a song with those lyrics? If anything, Aniston should be back singing in the studio.
