Known for his distinctive bluesy jazz-rock sound, the multiple Grammy-winning guitarist has worked with the likes of Shakira and Michelle Branch. But this time it was too hot for the artist. Before passing out, the musician introduced his song “Joy” from his 2021 album Blessings and Miracles to the San Francisco Chronicle’s Datebook.

According to a statement on Santana’s website, he suffered from heat exhaustion and dehydration. At around 10 p.m., medical officials took the stage to treat Santana for about 20 minutes. Apparently he waved to the audience as he was unrolled and was greeted with cheers. Santana was taken to the emergency room, where he was “fine,” according to multiple reports. His manager, Michael Vrionis, confirmed that the July 6 show at The Pavilion at Star Lake in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania will be rescheduled. He added, “More details to follow via Live Nation” on Santana’s website.

Thankfully, Santana is now in stable condition. Fans gather behind the beloved icon on stage following his health crisis.
