Details on Donald Trump’s alleged battle with the Secret Service revealed

The House January 6 Committee called a special session June 28 to hear testimony from former White House Assistant Cassidy Hutchinson. The 25-year-old clerk was the right-hand man of Mark Meadows, Donald Trump’s chief of staff, and she was involved in many important conversations surrounding the Capitol riot. Hutchinson testified that the 45th President was involved in the January 6 riot and intended to lead the mob to the Capitol. According to TMZ, Hutchinson testified that on the fateful day, Trump knew people with guns were heading towards Government House. You’re not here to hurt me.” The former White House aide further told the committee that the President had ordered Secret Service to remove the metal detector from the site of the “Stop the Steal” rally. TMZ reported Trump “presumably” did this to allow armed rioters access to the Capitol.

Hutchinson was praised for her statement on Twitter. Journalist Chris Jansing tweeted: “Many powerful men, including a military leader, seem afraid to do what Cassidy Hutchinson just did.” Even a Fox News spokesman said the young aide’s testimony was convincing, and criticized it Trump for attacking the former employee for lying. Bret Baier said: “He says she’s lying. Cassidy Hutchinson is under oath on Capitol Hill. The President is on Truth Social.”

According to The Washington Post, Hutchinson testified: “The President said something along the lines of, ‘I’m the damn President [Robert Engel, the head of the Secret Service detail] replied: ‘Sir, we have to go back to the west wing.’ The President reached out to grab the steering wheel. Herr Engel grabbed his arm and said, “Sir, you must take your hand off the steering wheel. We go back to the west wing. We’re not going to the Capitol.’”
