Cosmetic Surgeon Lifts the Veil on Kim Kardashian’s ‘Painful’ Stomach Tightening Treatment – Exclusive

In a world where more celebrities than ever are adopting a more relaxed approach to beauty standards, Kim Kardashian is out here keeping the Flat Tummy At Any Cost approach alive. This time, Kardashian shared on her Instagram stories that she got a laser skin tightening treatment called Morpheus8 on her stomach. Kardashian posted a photo of her still-red stomach on Aug. 3 and wrote (via People), “This is a game changer!” The reality star wrote that she got the Morpheus laser, which she praised, “I think , this is my favorite laser but it is painful lol but worth it.”

We wanted to learn more about this “painful” but “rewarding” skin tightening, so we went to the experts. Glenn Vallecillos, MD, FACS, exclusively shares with Nicki Swift that Morpheus8 is a “subdermal radiofrequency adipose tissue [fat] Remodeling Device or ‘SARD’.” So where does the pain part come in? “By delivering energy through multiple small needles with energy delivered in the form of radio frequency,” says Dr. Vallecillos, “The treatment is able to remodel the dermis by stimulating collagen production, which has a skin-tightening effect.”

Of course, some are still confused as to what this procedure really does and why Kardashian prefers it over other procedures. Good that we Dr. Vallecillos had on hand to let us know!

Morpheus targets much more than just fat

While Kim Kardashian applied the Morpheus8 to her stomach, we’ve seen many more users apply the laser to their face. dr Glenn Vallecillos explains that the laser can be used anywhere there is skin. “It’s commonly used on the face for firming and skin resurfacing, and certainly the same goes for the body,” says Vallecillos. “The Morpheus8 body can penetrate deeper, targeting fat and the connections between the skin and underlying muscle, which when weakened with time and age can lead to skin crepitation or sagging skin and cellulite.”

In fact, says Dr. Vallecillos that one of the best things about this laser is that it can be customized for different individual patients. “Each face is a unique mosaic and requires specific treatment in different areas to achieve optimal results,” he says. But be careful because the results depend on the skill of the doctor performing the procedure. “Always find someone with a lot of experience to present you with a well-thought-out aesthetic game plan,” he says.

Speaking of the game plan, prepare with patience. “You shouldn’t expect to see results in less than six weeks, and in our hands, the best results are seen in four months to well over a year,” explains Dr. Vallecillos. “So this is an evolving type of treatment that takes time and patience, but there really is no alternative in terms of its non-invasive effectiveness.”

Why Kardashian Might Be Attracted to Morpheus8

In her IG Story, Kim Kardashian said she got the laser to “tighten” her stomach, which Dr. Glenn Vallecillos is probably meant to treat some stretched skin after her pregnancies. “I think Kim is probably trying to get as tight as possible. Their pregnancies have certainly taken a toll on the abdominal skin,” he explains. While it’s not an alternative to a “tummy tuck” for people with “a lot” of loose skin, “it offers one of the best modalities available and tightens the skin without the use of a knife.”

Kardashian tagged Dr. Ashkan Ghavami in her story and his Ghavami Plastic Surgery practice in Beverly Hills. While Kardashian said the procedure was “painful,” the website promises “minimal discomfort” from the procedure. “Dr Ghavami and our team use anesthetic cream to make the treatment very tolerable and the needles are sharp and fine so they don’t overly injure the skin.”

So is Morpheus going to be all the rage thanks to Kardashian? Well, that’s TBD.
