Casey Affleck warmly welcomes Jennifer Lopez to the family after skipping marriage

A-list stars Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez are undoubtedly one of Hollywood’s greatest supercouples and some of the most intriguing love stories of the 21st century. The two entertainers, widely known as “Bennifer,” had a highly publicized, 18-month romance from 2002-2004 that culminated in an engagement followed by a breakup. However, they continued to speak highly of each other, and many fans speculated (and even hoped) that the two might end up getting back together, although each of them has since married and had children with different partners.

Nonetheless, fans’ dreams were finally fulfilled when the two were spotted in public together in April 2021, shortly after Lopez’s split from baseball great Alex Rodriguez. Photos of the couple kissing began circulating a few months later, confirming that they were back together. In April, Lopez announced they were engaged, and in July, they officially married in Las Vegas — more than 20 years after their first romance. This was followed by a lavish wedding ceremony in Georgia over the weekend of August 20th.

However, one notable absence was missing from their wedding: Casey Affleck, Ben’s brother and only sibling. This understandably threw oil on rumors that he wouldn’t approve of his brother’s new relationship. However, it seems Casey has reversed course and, after a long silence, has now warmly welcomed his new sister-in-law to the family.

Casey Affleck paid tribute to Jennifer Lopez on social media

On Aug. 20, the day of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’s long-awaited wedding ceremony, Casey Affleck was spotted in Los Angeles, far from the ceremony in Georgia, according to Page Six. When asked why he wasn’t there, Casey mumbled something uncomfortably that appeared to sound like “I have other things,” and then drove away. Finally, another source told Page Six that Casey missed his brother’s wedding ceremony “because of family, parental commitments back home.”

However, it seems like the rift that may have existed between Casey and his brother Ben was mended when Casey took to Instagram late the following day to convey his joy to the newlywed couple. “Good things are worth waiting for,” he wrote in the Post, alongside a picture of the three from the early 2000s when his brother and Lopez were first dating.

“This is about twists and turns, new beginnings and finding new reservoirs of old love,” the actor continued. “Welcome to the family.” Casey then addressed his new sister-in-law by name and wrote: “Jen you are a gem. We love you so much!!!” He appropriately followed that sentiment with a heart emoji. In the end, the love for Bennifer seems to only grow stronger, both within and outside of the family.
