BravoCon 2022: The RHOA stars who remained silent when asked about NeNe Leakes’ son

The stars of The Real Housewives of Atlanta are sympathetic to what happened to NeNe Leakes’ son Brentt — but some of them have been surprisingly quiet.

On Oct. 10, Leakes announced on Instagram Stories that her 23-year-old son had suffered from heart failure and a stroke. “That’s not how I wanted it to come out,” she said in a video (via CNN). “We wanted to be able to talk about it ourselves when Brentt was in a better place. So here I am. I’d rather have what’s right out there than what’s wrong.” Noting that doctors ruled out complications from COVID-19 and his weight, she then clarified that Brentt doesn’t drink or do drugs. She also shared that doctors are doing additional tests to determine the cause of his illness, noting that it was all “very scary.” While Leakes declined to give further details about her son’s health scare, she also shared that he’s “showed some improvement” and “we’re really happy and blessed” for the progress.

Leaks backed away from “RHOA” a while ago, but fans still asked their former co-stars what they thought of their current struggles at BravoCon 2022, and in some cases their silences were louder than words.

Kenya Moore and Kandi Burruss decided to stay mum over the situation

It’s no secret that there is tension between NeNe Leakes and the Bravo Network, not because she left The Real Housewives of Atlanta, but because she previously sued the team behind the show, claiming they had a hostile and racist work environment, by deadline. Still, it didn’t stop one fan from asking whether or not the cast had contacted Leakes following their son’s medical emergency. According to a reporter from The List at BravoCon 2022, the question was met with an awkward silence.

But little by little, the ladies confirmed they had been in touch with their former co-star. Leakes BFF Marlo Hampton specifically said, “Brent is fine, and so is she,” while Sheree Whitfield shared, “We all have this mutual love for one another.” Expressing his sympathy, Drew Sidora said, “[It’s] really hard as a mom.” Interestingly, Kenya Moore and Kandi Burruss, two of the performers who were particularly close to Leakes — or who had at least known her the longest — remained secretive. However, Moore admitted elsewhere in the interview that if she had to pick a former co-star to welcome back on the show, she would choose Leakes, though they often clashed.

Leakes hasn’t expressed any interest in returning to RHOA lately, but in November 2021 she admitted she’d be willing to come back. Yes sure I will return to the show. I’m fine with returning to the show as long as we can work through a few things,” she told The Real at the time. “I’m delighted to be returning to the show. Plus I have a lot of unfinished business with a few of them.”
