BravoCon 2022: Tamra Judge Opens Up About His Firing And Reinstatement At RHOC

The reality world has been rocked by a shocking reshuffle of The Real Housewives of Orange County. Per TV Guide, in 2019, Tamra Judge, who joined the show in Season 3, was “fired” and wouldn’t be returning as a full-time employee in 2020. Unlike most stars who get the nod from reality shows, Judge chose to stay real. “It’s been a wild 12 years. But it’s time for me to move on,” she commented on Instagram. “I’m sad to be leaving but very excited about my future. I love you.”

Judge continued her (partial) truth tour in a series of interviews. “I’m looking forward to life away from the cameras,” she told People. “I was offered a chance to return to the show in a limited role, but I would prefer to walk away on my own terms.” However, it wasn’t long before the real reason Judge was fired from RHOC was revealed – by Judge himself – and technically she wasn’t actually fired.

Judge told Radio Andy’s Jeff Lewis Live (via Bravo) that Simon Barney’s battle with throat cancer and Eddie Judge’s heart problems had a big impact on her departure. Fast forward to July 2022, and she was clearly ready and roaring to go again. “The judge is back and the drama is in session,” Tamra announced on Watch What Happens Live, confirming her return to RHOC. She admitted that having a “completely different perspective” made her feel “1,000 percent more energized.” And at BravoCon 2022, Tamra openly said she was fired and reinstated.

Being publicly fired from your job really stinks. But being rehired for the same job stinks a lot less. Still, someone with a big ego might feel embarrassed — but that wasn’t a problem for Tamra Judge. In July 2019, she was released as a full-time cast member from Real Housewives of Orange County. Three years later, Judge was reinstated, much to the annoyance of Vicki Gunvalson, who had also been fired. Gunvalson snapped E! ‘s “Daily Pop” that Judge was brought back while she wasn’t because “she’s gonna show her t**s, I won’t.”

During the RHOC panel at BravoCon 2022, Judge was candid about his firing and reinstatement. According to a reporter from The List, when asked why she was so truthful about being dropped from the show, she didn’t hesitate to answer. “Because I’m brutally honest,” Richter admitted. “I got fired when I got this call while I was camping and it was like, ‘Listen, you know what, Bravo has decided to go in a new direction,’ and I was like, ‘Okay, damn it. ‘”

Shannon Storms Beador, Heather Dubrow, Gina Kirschenheiter and Emily Simpson were also on the podium. They weighed the implications of the judge’s departure. “It was hard because when Tamra left, it affected the cast as a whole… there was a track missing, and the track is back!” said Kirschenheiter. Simpson agreed, noting that Judge has a relationship with all of them. “I f**ks**t up,” Richter vowed.
