Are Chace Crawford and Miles Teller Friends?

Be still the beating heart of our inner teens. Chace Crawford and Miles Teller are real friends — and they’re the couple we never knew we needed.

For Gossip Girl fans, Crawford needs no introduction. Although he has played a number of roles since the teen series concluded in 2012, for many he will forever be the swooned (albeit eternally tortured) Nate Archibald. However, with four seasons of Amazon’s The Boys under his belt, he may be on his way to finally shattering his schoolboy persona. Teller also has its roots in the youth genre. While he is arguably best known today for his performance as Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw on Top Gun: Maverick, in the 2010s he had starring roles in the Divergent series, the 2013 remake of Footloose, and 21 & over”, just to name a few.

Aside from similar starting roles, Crawford and Teller have never worked together — but they did become close at one point. According to People (via MTV), the ‘Gossip Girl’ actor was originally set to star in ‘Footloose.’ Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be, as sources told Entertainment Weekly that Crawford’s Gossip Girl program was to blame. It appears rehearsals were underway before his exit, but Crawford’s would-be co-star Julianne Hough gushed about his progress ahead of the announcement. “He’s fine,” she told Us Weekly. We cannot confirm if Teller was present at these rehearsals. However, something tells us that he might…

The internet was thrown for a loop when Teller’s wife, Keleigh Sperry, posted a video on TikTok of the actors dancing side by side in a kitchen – for reference: both shirtless, one holding a dog, the other a pool stick , and eventually a loaf of bread – to Sickick’s “Top Gun Mode”. Yes, it was a lot. However, fans couldn’t get enough, especially as both men still hold a special place in the hearts of many thanks to their early work. As one wrote: “Miles AND Chase???? My 16-year-old heart wouldn’t take it.”

Teller subsequently joked with Entertainment Tonight about his TikTok videos, telling the outlet that his greatest joy ultimately came from fooling around with loved ones, and he was glad for the world to see. “My time with Kelleigh and, you know, and my family and friends … those are the moments that I really enjoy,” he shared. Crawford shared the sentiment. Speaking to Bustle in early July, he hinted at a recent breakup and credited his friends with helping him get through it. Hey, when Teller is having a memorable moment, Crawford gets the support he needs and Fans get a TikTok as a result, it’s a win-win situation right?

… and the golf course

When they’re not making viral TikTok videos in the kitchen, Miles Teller and Chace Crawford are also hanging out on the golf course. In fact, it’s a sport that both seem to take pretty seriously.

In 2020, Just Jared spotted Teller and Crawford as they prepared for a round of golf. The month before, they’d competed together in the star-studded American Century Championship charity tournament, even taking a moment to pose goofy for photographers. That year, Teller was thrilled to have returned, telling Golf, “There’s nothing quite like this tournament.” Though Crawford’s brother-in-law, Tony Romo, ultimately won the championship (via Golfweek), the actor himself wasn’t in that year’s lineup. However, it appears he’s come along anyway to support his Top Gun: Maverick beast. In an Instagram photo dump from her Tahoe friends trip to coincide with the tournament, Keleigh Sperry shared a picture of Crawford wading through a rock pool in tow with a happy expression on her face.

Given that Crawford previously told Bustle he wanted to be a football player growing up, and Miles told Rolling Stone he had his eye on baseball, it only makes sense that these two sports fanatics would be friends. Who knows? Maybe someday we’ll see them in a sports movie together and give our inner teens what they want. In the meantime, we always have TikTok.
