Alec Baldwin continues to point fingers at the tragedy of grate shooting

In October 2021, during a rehearsal for the film “Rust,” a live bullet came from a prop gun, resulting in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, USA Today. The gun was pointed at the camera behind which Hutchins and director Joel Souza were standing. The bullet hit both of them, the cameraman died in hospital. Actor Alec Baldwin was the one holding the gun when the incident happened, but he claims he is not responsible.

“The trigger wasn’t pulled,” 30 Rock actor George Stephanopoulos said during a December 2021 interview on ABC News. “I didn’t pull the trigger. I would never point a gun at someone and pull a trigger on them. Never.” Baldwin then claimed that someone must have put a live bullet in the gun unbeknownst to him and possibly others on set.

The actor-producer went on to claim that he never pulled the trigger, and on an Aug. 17 episode of “The Chris Cuomo Project,” explained to Chris Cuomo how fanning the gun’s hammer can get it firing without the trigger to operate. But in FBI reports recently acquired by ABC News, forensic analysis revealed that someone must have pulled the trigger for the gun to fire. With this new evidence, it appears Baldwin is eager to blame someone else.

Alec Baldwin blames gunsmith and assistant director

While no one seems to know how a live bullet got into the gun, FBI reports say the revolver was in “working condition” and Alec Baldwin had to cock the gun and pull the trigger to fire it, according to Newsweek. Now the actor’s focus is on who he believes to be responsible for the incident, and fingers are pointed at gunsmith and props assistant Hannah Gutierrez Reed and assistant director Dave Halls.

“Someone put a live bullet in the gun who should have known better,” Baldwin told CNN Aug. 19. “That was it [Gutierrez Reed’s] Work. Their job was to look at the ammo and put in the dummy cartridge or blank and there shouldn’t be any live cartridges on set.” He continued, “There are two people who didn’t do what they did should have do. I’m not sitting there saying I want them to go to jail or I want their lives to be hell… but I want everyone to know that these are the two people responsible for what happened are responsible.

However, Gutierrez Reed believes it was sabotaged. “I think someone who would do that would want to sabotage the set, want to prove something, want to say they’re upset and unhappy,” Gutierrez-Reed’s attorney Jason Bowles told Today in November 2021. .
